COVID-19: ¿Cómo resguardarse ante posibles delitos?

A pesar de la emergencia sanitaria que enfrenta el país por la expansión del COVID-19 y las numerosas preocupaciones que esta pandemia ha generado hay que tratar de mantenerse alerta: incluso, en esta situación puede ser víctima de un delito.  

A continuación, Sabas Chahuán, abogado de Grupo Defensa, entrega algunas recomendaciones: 

1-Mensajes falsos: Durante las últimas semanas es normal que nuestros correos electrónicos cuenten con un mayor número de mensajes recibidos, ya que muchas organizaciones han decidido utilizar esta vía para comunicar ajustes en su horario de atención y de funcionamiento para evitar el contagio del COVID-19.  

Pero también se ha usado esta forma de contacto y otras plataformas, como WhatsApp o Facebook, para realizar estafas cibernéticas, según ha advertido la PDI.   

 

“En caso de recibir un correo electrónico debe fijarse bien en el remitente y ante cualquier sospecha no abrirlo. Si ya lo hizo y vio el contenido, márcalo como spam y borrarlo. Jamás pinchar un link que nos lleve a otro sitio web”, señala Chahuán.

2-Fraudes con tarjetas bancarias: Una de las recomendaciones que se ha entregado es tratar de realizar compras de forma virtual y si debe salir de su casa realizar transacciones utilizando alguna tarjeta, para así evitar el contacto directo con el dinero.

Por esta razón, Chahuán señala que es muy importante “revisar con cierta frecuencia su cuenta bancaria y el historial de transacciones para detectar posibles movimientos irregulares”.

Cuando realice el pago con su tarjeta en algún comercio, el abogado dice que es clave “no perder de vista la tarjeta e impedir que un tercero vea su clave secreta”.

El especialista comenta que en caso de compras online permitirá minimizar el riesgo averiguar si su banco le da la opción de “crear una tarjeta virtual o con un cupo máximo para esa transacción”.

 

3-Compras en lugares no autorizados: Otro consejo que entrega Chahuán, para compras presenciales y virtuales, es optar por el comercio establecido, ya que tendrá ciertas garantías.

Al optar por adquirir un producto en el comercio informal, incluso la salud puede estar en riesgo. Hace algunos días la PDI incautó 3 mil litros de un producto que simulaba ser alcohol gel y que estaba siendo vendido aprovechando la alta demanda por el contexto de la pandemia que se enfrenta.

 

4-Denunciar: Si ha sido víctima de algunos de estos delitos Chahuán recalca que es clave denunciar para que se realice una investigación y se pueda dar con el responsable.

Además, realizar la denuncia es un requisito que la entidad bancaria solicitará al cliente que ha sido víctima de alguna estafa con su tarjeta.
